Earth's Energy Imbalance: Maps

Note: Depending on your input choices, plots may take 5-10 seconds to generate. Please be patient.

Input Elements

  • Map type:
    • Anomalies: Average over a specified mean period and time interval and relative to a given base period
    • Trends: Change of a specified mean period over a specified time interval based on local linear trends
    • ESD: Ensemble standard deviation over five runs for a specified mean period (ESD is computed for each such period; the mean of these maps is used). Base period and time interval are irrelevant.Pick "none" for "Run B". For single runs, the ensemble standard deviation of a related ensemble is used.
  • Run A: Pick only lines that start with '*' (ptv means prescribed time varying)
  • Run B: Unless "none" is chosen, the difference map "Run A - Run B" is shown, where Run B is the long-term linear trend of the control run (obtained by using linear regression separately for each month of the year).
  • Quantity: Choose from available diagnostics
  • Mean period: Any monthly, seasonal (3 month or 6 month) or annual mean
  • Time interval : Years over which data means are averaged or trends are found; if the mean period straddles 2 years, fill in the later year for begin and end. The time interval will be automatically truncated from both ends to the period the model actually ran.
  • Base period (not used for trends, mean): Time interval to which anomalies are relative
